BACP Registered Member: What is it, and why is it important?

The BACP is one of the largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy in the UK.

Through their membership criteria, they set standards for people wanting to carry out the work of a counsellor or psychotherapist in Britain.

The BACP Register is a public list of practising counsellors and psychotherapists who have met the BACP’s requirements for membership. The standards included in the BACP Registration include training, supervision, ongoing professional development, and an adherence to the BACP code of ethics, called the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions.

Registered Members of the BACP must renew their membership on an annual basis, agreeing to continue to adhere to the Ethical Framework, and a commitment to ongoing training and supervision.
