How does LGBTQ+ counselling work?

Criteria for LGBTQ+ Counselling clients

There are a few important criteria for new clients:

  • You are 18 or over
  • Commitment to weekly sessions at the same time on the same day each week (we don’t offer fortnightly, or unplanned sessions)
  • You are not experiencing severe mental health concerns, or in crisis (if you are, please seek emergency help and support)
  • You live outside the USA or Canada (this is due to laws governing therapy in these countries)
  • You have your own personal email account, and you are comfortable using the internet to communicate
  • Can make bank transfers to a GBP (£) or EUR (€) bank account

The new client process

  1. Once you have decided to have therapy, contact us to find out if we have any availability, and we’ll let you know what availability we currently have.
  2. Then, one you have confirmed your preferred day and time, we’ll send you some forms to complete online.
  3. Before your session, you’ll receive a payment request, which you’ll need to pay by bank transfer.
  4. Once we receive the payment, we will send you a link to your online session.

The client experience

Your session will be on the same day at the same time each week. You can cancel or request a change of time to the session without charge up to 72 hours before the session start time. Any cancellation after 72 hours, regardless of the reason, is charged in full.

There is no communication between sessions except for administrative things, like cancellations, or if your therapist has received your permission to send a document that they believe may be useful to you.

You can end therapy at any time, there is no minium commitment. However, it can be very helpful to talk about your attitudes towards ending at any time. Especially if you are thinking about ending.
